Picture Perfect!!

Perfecto!! as what I expected, Wawachan already posted yesterday's event here.. It was fun and I just love yesterday's family day. Eventhough less than twenty angklungians attended it, but I saluted those who came and went back all wet after the Eplorace. Well, I was one of the committee (Prep and Tech) and I guess I'm still tired of going out the day before that I did not join any games but to be the committe who handle the games. The photos during Family day will be posted here soon..

Anyway, for this time, let's take a look at our potos during the Humanitarian Week performances taken by our friend, Myra. Thanks to her! Go check it our here..!! oppss..the image is kinda big, so be patient while it uploads.. hehe.. TTYL!

IIUM CULTURAL UNIT FAMILY DAY

So today we had some fun with other cultural clubs' members (Gamelan, Chak Lempong, Dikir Barat), since this Family Day today was organized by IIUM Cultural Unit (if I'm not mistaken) and our attendance was compulsory (even later I noticed not many of us came).

Anyway, the day began at 9.30 a.m at Ragbi Field, Men's Sport Complex with the recitation of Al-Fatihah and a short speech from a guy I don't really know his name (I'm suck in remembering names, sorry). The first game we played is FUTSAL 'ala-ala pelikat dan batik'. But before that we were appointed to groups 1 to 5. Of course, each group will be 'campur-campur' team, meaning Gamelan+Chak Lempong+Angklung+Dikir Barat members in one. I was appointed to group 2, but my FUTSAL team did not win the match. Too bad...

After semi-final Futsal match, we continued with Sukaneka!!! For some times we had to be kids again playing around the field. 4 games for this one; the first one is I think 'Bola Pening' 0_o, I really forgot its name. Anyway, for this game my team won =) Then, 'Isi Air Dalam Botol' by just using our palms in three minutes to fill the mineral water bottle. This game was won by team 1 (mine got second place). Next is 'Kupas Kuaci ala Halaqah' which the whole team had to work as a team, of course- to work out the way to 'kupas' the kuaci by hands ONLY. I forgot which team won, because I was already feel tired. The last game is 'Belon King and Belon Queen'; this individual game needs you to protect your own balloon that you tied at your---'betis'--- from others that might blow your balloon. The last one who survived win the competition, and fortunately the King of Balloon for today is from Angklung Club, although he had a good fight with Abang Najib who was unfortunately lost. And the queen is from Gamelan Club.
At noon, even though the weather did not seem so bright and nice, the Family Day went on with FUTSAL FINAL. The team that won the 'cup' is Group 3!!! Congrats!! Seemed like the batik that they wore brought some luck to them. Haha...

Then, just before the rain came down pouring, the fun kept on going with Explorace. I had no idea what they played along the 5 checkpoints because I did not join my team. Lack of energy.
And yes, they had to play in rain, all wet.

For some reasons I forgot a lot of things along today's Family Day. I am so sorry, but believe me, today was fun!! Probably I was lacked of sleep last Saturday night and today morning I was soo sleepy. So I need your help to edit or make your own version of report here. Or Fairuz could edit this one for me, hehe...
And the fun ended after we retrieved our prizes. I got the first lucky draw ever in my life. Today my lucky number was 054, haha...

Nevertheless, no fighting-fighting for today, right?? Probably that's a good sign, who knows??

report: ONE HACK OF A DAY.

July 21st, IIUM- Two performances in one day; can you believe it??
It never been occured for IIUM Angklung team before, but yes, it happened just yesterday!
The first one, for the Opening Ceremony for KAED Festival (if I'm not mistaken T_T )at around 3 p.m. Our group played Joget Pahang, Enjit-Enjit Semut and I'tiraf. This ceremony was not an ordinary one, for there were also students from other universities, such as USM and UTM. We were not informed about what the festival is all about (guess I have to ask Suhaily after this), though we were told that we have to make our performance as 'melayu' as possible. So with kain batik for girls and some make-up 'ala-ala Philipines' for guys we were there at the stage, giving our full commitment and, wallah!! A good round of applause for our Angklung team as the end of the ceremony.
But the fun had not finished just yet.
At night, for the closing ceremony of Humanitarian Week we had to play 8 songs!! Another thing that never happened before. Placed at the riverside, we played a medley When The Saint Go Marching and You Are My Sunshine, then Getaran Jiwa followed by Bungong Joempo, Edelwiess, Ada Apa Denganmu, Joget Pahang, Enjit-Enjit Semut and lastly, I'tiraf. Since the performance was at an open place, so the crowds whom are our own friends did shout a few names of us. Even our former president, Abang Pidut were also there to give some support.
However, there were some comments from our viewers about our show last night. Some did not get the last song, I'tiraf although it is a popular song. Then, some said we are lack of communication with the audience and we did not smile. But they love our Ada Apa Denganmu.
And just for information, that night was the last night we played Ada Apa Denganmu, and after this no more performing this 'love' song. Which is sad, because despite the fact that it is a really tough one, but it attracts the people's attention (well, since it is also a popular song) and that is what the team wants!
And say thanks to WAHIDA, SARAH and of course, ABANG NAJIB for your willingness to at least say something in front of the crowd.
Well, yesterday is one hack of a day. It was a long, fine day. Two more performances to come next months, and whether we are going to kick some butt or not, it depends on our perservance and unity after this.
Plus, for the freshies, Welcome to IIUM Angklung Club! Hope you guys will enjoy each other's company and try not to be afraid of making mistakes for by doing one will then teach you how to perform much more better. And the most important thing; have fun!!!

report: Angklung Performance at Cultural Night IIUM

July 5th, 2006, IIUM- "It was fun!!!"
Despite the fact that IIUM Angklung Club members had been sacrificing their own time, money and energy to come and practiced for days, their performance last night for the Cultural Night went extraordinary and marvellous.
This has been proved by Kak Maswa herself (dun remember her title 0_o), and she even asked the club to do some keroncong songs.
Not only that, the support that came from the audiences had made the show worth a thousand of sweats and commitments from Angklung Club members, whose hands went numb just after the first song 'I'tiraf' ended. However the show went on with Bungong Jumpa, a song that no one in the hall seems to know.
But then it continued with one of the toughest song for Angklung members, Peter Pan's 'Ada Apa Denganmu', and even though the song is quite popular among students they couldn't guess it at the opening of the song. They only clapped hard after they recognized the chorus, and they clapped harder at the middle of the song.
Finally, the show ended with Enjit-Enjit Semut, and the audiences sang and clapped their hands along with the song played. Obviously they enjoyed themselves with angklung performance. And the members left the stage with full satisfaction and smiles, no more worries =)

Besides Angklung, there were also Zapin, Band, Caklempong, Silat Helang Putih and Nasyid performances. The Cultural Night was held to introduce IIUM cultural clubs to the new students. It only ended after 12 a.m

angklung vid

This is one hell of a video. Despite the fact that the video isn't that good in quality, but at least you can hear the sound they made. Like what Wahida said, 'IKUT BEAT!!!' (heheh, jgn mare...)
I got this at youtube.com. Sorry, but you guys cannot download this vid. So, gotta learn from the playas, ya??! And if you find this vid keeps on buffering, just pause it for a moment until the vault under the vid turns full grey. Then it'll be fine.
Or if you really couldn't watch the vid, I think you have to go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/ and click INSTALL NOW.
It's so easy.
And of course, you have to have your headphone or pc speaker or else you won't hear them. So, enjoy!!

wawachan: I got soooo jealous because they could go to Japan and perform in front of the Japs. I don't know if we could do the same in the future T_T

*Sekai ni hitotsu Dake no hana= The only flower in this world;
it's literal meaning, if I'm not mistaken =)
