Angklung Biz Days 2013

On 8^th, 9^th, 10^th & 11^th April 2013, IIUM Angklung Club has organized the entrepreneurship programme which is named as Angklung Biz Days 2013. The four days programmed was conducted from 9 am to 5 pm, located at the Female Mosque Entrance. As entrepreneurial skills are essentials to us as the students, the programme that was held by the club would help us in developing those skills.

The main objectives of the programs are first and foremost is to generate additional income to IIUM Angklung Club. The profit that we get from the programme can be contributed to the club. The second objective is to inculcate and developed entrepreneurship skills among the IIUM Angklung Club members. The target group of this programme was among the IIUM Community which involving 13 committees in total.

The programme that was started from 8^th April-11^th April was basically begun from 9am. By that time, the available committees gathered at Female Mosque Entrance and started to prepare and opened the booth. Usually, the business started at 9.15 am. The booth was available up until 4.45pm. After that, the committees started to prepare for closing the booth. At 5pm, the booth was closed and everybody dispersed to their respective Mahallah. The flow continued until the last day of the programme.

To sum up, the programme has been held successfully with the cooperation of all the members. The greatest input we got from the programme was how to develop the entrepreneurial skills and at the same time, we had the opportunities to know each member very well and strengthened the relationship between us. The programme went well as all the members gave their full commitments towards the programme and willing to help each other in order to ensure the successful of the programme. We really hope that this programme will be held again in future.

SHOW + BUTEM Group Binding

On 3rd March 2013, Show and Performance Bureau and Bureau of Technical and Maintenance (BUTEM) had chosen to have the group binding event at a well-known restaurant which is only a walking distance from IIUM, Rahman Palace Steambot Restaurant. The advisor of our bureau and mainboard also joined the event together with the members of both bureaus.

We departed from IIUM at around 6.45 p.m and arrived at the restaurant at around 7.10 p.m. As we have booked the tables earlier, there was no problem of getting seats. We were so excited since there were numerous choices of food such as fresh meat, vegetables, variety types of meatballs and fishballs, and also fresh vegetables included in the buffet. The best thing was that each of us only had to pay RM20.00 for all of that marvellous cuisine.

Besides having a great time boiling and grilling the food, we used this golden chance to get to know each member better since we just can meet each other during weekly training. We also got to know the members of Butem Bureau and hopefully, our close relationship will last forever. We also had a surprise birthday celebration of two of us there.

At the end of the event, we took some pictures together before departing back to IIUM. We were so glad that we got to spend some quality time together as a family. Eating together never fails to bring everyone closer. As there is a famous saying, ‘ a family that eats together, stays together’.

Archieve + T-Dev - GROUP BINDING

The group binding event of the Archieve and the Training and Development (T-Dev) bureaus was held on 10^th March 2013. The main reason that this kind of event was held was of course because to get to know the members better as we will be doing other events and performances together. Therefore, a strong foundation of bond between us must be built.

Both of our mainboard’s advisors could not come along due to some reasons. However, most of our members joined in this group binding event. We went to Sunway Pyramid Mall as the place for the event. We went there by five cars at around 9.30 a.m. It was a fairly exciting one-hour journey from IIUM.

We went straight to the ice skating place as we arrived at Sunway Pyramid. It was a first time experience for most of our members to skate. Nevertheless, we had fun as we could learn new thing that day. We skated for almost three hours and a half until 2.30 p.m. For sure we did not skate through all those 240 minutes literally and we did have our rest during those times depending on when we wanted to have our rest.

We performed Zuhr prayer and had our lunch afterwards. Because there were some times left before going back to IIUM, we decided to go to play bowling which is also at the Sunway Pyramid. Considering the times we did left after the bowling games finished at 5.00 p.m, we performed Asr prayer before going back to IIUM as we were afraid that we would not make it on time. As expected, we reached IIUM late in the evening at 7.00 p.m.

Mass Gathering Sem 2, 12/13

Assalamualaikum. Welcome back to IIUM to start new semester for session 2012/2013. ;) Alhamdulillah, we held our mass gathering on the 2nd week of the semester at the training room. Most of the members came at that night. There are three agenda for this mass gath; Introduction of board members, Sharing Moments with team Bandung and group meeting.

During sharing moments, the participants shared their precious moments there and they brief about culture of Malaysia vs Indonesia,  the techniques on how to play and manage the angklung, training and patitur used at the Indonesia. They went to three different institutes which are Sekolah Tinggi Seni Indonesia (STSI), Sekolah Tinggi Bahasa Asing (STBA), and Universitas Islam Bandung (UNISBA). They went there from 15th-19th January 2013. Alhamdulillah it was a precious moment to be there and we hope that this programme can be continued after this.  

After almost one hour of sharing moments, all the angklung members sit together with their respective bureaus. All groups of bureaus were doing taaruf with the members. The head of each bureau explained the jobscopes to the sub-committees and they have discussed about group binding. After the group meeting, the mass gathering end at 11.00 pm.

Taaruf Week Show Sem 2, 2012/2013

Assalamualaikum lovely readers!

On 1st February 2013, we performed in the Taaruf Week cultural night Semester 2, 2012/2013. 20 Angklung members participated in this show. We started our training on 25th January 2013 and the first two days of training was quite hectic but the following days the training has been really effective. During traning session, we also do some other activities like group binding. Yeah, it's so fun!! We went to Wangsa Walk and half of us go to Manhattan. We played bowling and  had a lunch together. These activities have strengthen the ukhuwah among the members.

This show was held in Main Auditorium since the Cultural Activity Centre's  hall will be used for wedding on the next day. It was an exciting show because this time, the theme for this show is " Malay's Wedding ". On that night we performed two songs which are: Kopi Dangdut and Medley Ketipang. A bunch of thanks to IIUM Percussion Club for accompanying us for these songs. For the collabration with other clubs, we performed Symphony 40 medley Puteri Santubong. Smphony 40 is a fast song. Alhamdulillah, the performers managed to play it well :) Congratulations!

There are a lots of improvement during this show. The attendance and punctuality has improved. The best thing during this show is the performers did not use patitur and have a better showmanship. Keep up the good work guys! Last of all, thanks to the trainers; Bapak Dadang and Kak Jiha. Not to forget our adorable PIC, Sis Munirah Aziz.
